ATLANTA, GA, May 5, 2008 -
Srixon staff professional Peter Lawrie fired four birdies in his last six holes to force a playoff at the European Tour’s Open de España. He secured the victory on the second playoff hole with a par. The win moved him from 88th to 12th on the Order of Merit.
The 34-year-old Irishman had pinpoint accuracy all week with his Srixon I-701 irons and Z-URS golf ball. Lawrie also used Srixon wedges and No. 5 fairway wood.
The recently introduced I-701 irons feature a pocket cavity structure, which effectively lowers and deepens the I-701’s center of gravity allowing for an extremely stable clubhead through impact and making it easier to get the ball airborne for high, straight iron shots.
The Srixon Z-URS golf ball consists of the softest urethane cover the company has ever created. The ball provides soft feel on all shots from tee to green and greenside spin control on approach shots. The ball features a high trajectory 330-dimple pattern that provides a strong and penetrating trajectory in all wind conditions.
On the PGA Tour, Srixon’s Robert Allenby and Jim Furyk finished fourth and seventh respectfully at the Wachovia Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina.
