ATLANTA, Ga., December 12, 2005 — The third time's a charm, or in
this case, history, for Srixon Staff Professional Robert Allenby as he
became the first player ever to win Australia's "Triple Crown"-the
Australian Open, Australian PGA and Australian Masters-after capturing
yesterday's MasterCard Australian Masters in a playoff at Huntingdale
Golf Course in Melbourne, Australia. Allenby shot a 17-under par, 271
total (67-68-68-68) playing with a full bag of Srixon clubs including
the W-403AD driver, W-403AD 3 and 5 woods, I-404 irons, WG-504 wedges
and Srixon's Z-UR golf ball.
Despite
playing with an injured wrist, Allenby made a dramatic eagle on the
14th hole and then got down in 2 from long distance on the 18th green
to secure his spot in the playoff.
Allenby
then pared the first extra hole to maintain his astounding unbeaten
record of 9-0 in career playoffs. The victory caps a demanding and
historic 3 weeks in which Allenby also captured the Australian Open and
Australian PGA. As the first ever "triple crown winner", the resurgent
native of Victoria reasserted himself as one of the elite players in
the world.
Srixon golf balls have earned 31 wins across the globe in 2005.
