ATLANTA, GA, November 1, 2006 -
Srixon Sports, a world leader in golf ball and golf club technology,
today announces the latest addition to its award winning and tour
proven Z-UR family of golf balls, the Z-URC. Like the other members of
the Z-UR franchise, the Z-URC has enjoyed great success at the world’s
elite level with multiple wins across the globe, including Jim Furyk at
the Wachovia Championship and Canadian Open; Karrie Webb at the Kraft
Nabisco Championship and Michelob ULTRA Open; and Wayne Perske at the
Token Homemate Cup.
The revolutionary
new Z-URC golf ball has several features that only a technology leader
like Srixon could develop. It starts with the softest
urethane-elastomer cover we’ve ever developed which delivers
outstanding spin control on approach shots and around the green. At an
astounding .02 inches thin, this unique cover provides for the largest
and fastest Energetic Gradient Growth core Srixon has ever developed,
meaning you don’t have to sacrifice distance to gain this control.
Finally, the 330 dimple pattern of the Z-URC combines high trajectory
with a penetrating ball flight for stability in all cross winds and
head winds.
“With the new Z-URC,
Srixon has already proven we have winning technology as a result of the
5 wins our staff professionals have had across the globe,” said Richard
Stamper, Srixon’s President. “The fact that the Z-URC exists is itself
a testament to the technology that Srixon possesses. In working
closely with all of our tour players, those with lower spin launch
conditions and those who like to control their iron shots and short
game with spin versus trajectory, were looking for a Z-UR type of
product that provided slightly more spin without sacrificing distance.
Our engineers came up with a modification to the existing Z-UR
technology platform utilizing an all new, incredibly soft and thin
cover, and created the golf ball that Jim Furyk has used to
successfully reach number 2 in the world rankings,” added Stamper
“I
have had a career year in terms of tournaments won, prize money earned
and world ranking”, said World Number 2, Jim Furyk. “I know the Z-URC
has played a big part in that for me. When I first started working
with Srixon, I told them I was different from most tour players in that
I attack golf courses from the green back to the tee. So the first
thing a golf ball has to do is perform around the greens and with the
short approach shots which are my bread and butter. But I can’t
sacrifice distance either with the power game that the PGA Tour has
become. And with the Z-URC I’ve managed to pick up yards. That’s an
unbeatable combination.”
Added Masters
runner-up Tim Clark, “The Z-URC is an exceptional golf ball. I haven’t
given up any distance with it off the tee but my distance control with
the irons has been great all year. The Masters is a golf tournament
where you have to have incredible control of your ball flight and short
game and at the length the course is stretched to, you need every yard
off the tee. They said only the bombers could contend and I credit the
Z-URC with helping me dispel that notion.”
The Z-URC will be sold exclusively in on- and off-course golf shops and carries a suggested retail price of $55 per dozen.
