HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA, October 17, 2008 -
Cleveland Golf/Srixon congratulate staffer Jim Furyk on winning the 2008 PGA Grand Slam of Golf at the Mid Ocean Club in Tucker’s Town, Bermuda. Furyk won the title in a playoff over recently named PGA Player of the Year Padraig Harrington. On the final hole Harrington had a one-shot lead only to be one-upped by Furyk to force a playoff. On the first hole of sudden death Furyk and Harrington faced eagle putts but Harrington’s putt had a little too much speed and he tapped it in for birdie. Furyk then stepped up and sank his 8-foot eagle putt for the victory. Furyk was competing in his fourth PGA Grand Slam of Golf and earned his second win collecting $600,000.
“I’ve only been the head of the Srixon brand in the U.S. for two months and I’m already seeing great success on the Tours,” said Greg Hopkins, President/CEO of Cleveland Golf/Srixon. “Jim won with the Z-URC ball which is just one of the six models that golfers can purchase with a Money Back Guarantee.”
Furyk uses the Srixon Pro 100 irons, Srixon prototype wedges in 50, 55, 60 lofts and the Srixon Z-URC golf ball.
