ATLANTA, GA, August 28, 2006 -
Srixon Staff Professional Jim Furyk came in solo
third place at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday, August 27 at
Firestone CC in Akron, Ohio. Furyk, armed with the Srixon W-506 driver,
I-506 irons, Forged Wedges and the soon to be released Z-URC golf ball,
shot a 9-under par, 271 total (69-65-69-68) He currently stands 2nd on
the 2006 PGA Tour money list and 3rd in the Official World Golf
Rankings.
Furyk,
the 2003 U.S. Open Champion, has had a remarkable season since
switching to Srixon this year. He has collected 10 Top 10 finishes this
year, including a win at the Wachovia Championship, a tie for 2nd place
finish at the U.S. Open Championship and a 4th place finish at the
British Open Championship. Furyk further solidifies his hold on the
number 2 ranking on the 2006 PGA TOUR money list with over $5.1 million
for the season and has amassed over $29 million in career
earnings—currently ranked 5th all time—and is an 11 time PGA Tour
winner.
Furyk earned a spot in the
PGA Grand Slam of Golf after finishing on top of the 2006 Major
Champions points list. He will compete against the winners of the
year’s four major championships.
Also
on Sunday, at the Reno-Tahoe Open, Srixon Staff Professional Alex Cejka
tied for 9th by shooting a 15-under par, 273 total (67-67-70-69) for
his second Top 10 of the year. Cejka played with the Srixon forged
irons and the soon to be released Z-URC golf ball.
Srixon
Staff Professionals have amassed 30 Top 10s on the PGA TOUR this season
including Jim Furyk’s win at the Wachovia Championship and John
Rollins’ victory at the B.C. Open.
