ATLANTA, GA, May 16, 2006 -
Srixon Staff Professional Karrie Webb won her
second tournament of the season to go along with her major trophy at
the Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, VA on
Sunday, May 14, 2006. Webb’s dominating play earned her the
7-shot victory, which was also the LPGA Tour’s largest margin of
victory thus far in 2006 with rounds of 66-68-66-70 for a 14-under par,
270 total. Webb carded just one bogey in 32 holes, a number she was
able to keep low with the aid of the Srixon W-506 Driver, Srixon Z-UR
prototype golf ball, Srixon forged irons. Webb is the only 2-time
winner this season and now stands atop the ADT Official Money List.
After
an uncharacteristically winless 2005, the resurgent Hall of Famer,
armed with Srixon’s newest driver and golf ball, has dominated
play in her last five consecutive tournaments. Webb began the streak
with a win at the LPGA’s first major of the season, the Kraft
Nabisco Championship, followed it up with consecutive 2 nd place ties,
a 10 th place tie and yesterday’s victory at Kingsmill. This is
Webb’s 32 nd career victory. In November of 2005, Webb was
inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
On the
PGA TOUR, Srixon Staff Professional Brian Davis played with
Srixon’s I-506 irons and Srixon Z-UR prototype golf ball and came
in tied for 8 th place at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship on Sunday
with a 7-under par, 273 total (70-68-70-65). This is Davis’
second Top 10 of the season.
Davis’ tie for 8 th marks Srixon’s 18 th top 10 finish on the PGA TOUR this season.
