ATLANTA, GA, May 7, 2007 -
In
2004 Srixon introduced “Ball Tattoos,” a new print
and internet campaign utilizing strong, eye-catching images to promote
their three-piece tour performance ball. It was developed to showcase
the strength of Srixon products in a very unique way and to generate
more awareness for the brand. Now, three years later the Srixon brand
has become a household name among golfers, thanks in part to this
award- winning campaign, as well as to Srixon’s growing staff of PGA
Tour players which include No. 2 in the world, Jim Furyk and No. 6 in
the world, Henrik Stenson. To commemorate the success of Srixon on tour
and in the golf shop, this week at The Players Championship the entire
staff of Srixon players will be carrying a “Ball Tattoo” golf bag. The
golf bag will feature images from the print campaigns over the last
three years.
“While the concept of a special bag for big events is not new, no
company has ever done one quite like this,” noted Mike Pai, vice
president of marketing and advertising, Srixon. “The bag is absolutely
unmistakable and should receive quite a bit of airtime as five of the
world’s top 50 players will be carrying it. The Players Championship
is considered by most to be golf’s fifth major championship and we
anticipate a lot of eyeballs on this bag.”
Srixon has received strong feedback and collected several awards for
the Ball Tattoo campaign. Launched in 2004 and continued into 2005, the
executions varied from flames on a golf ball with a headline of “Fire
in the Hole,” a shark looking golf ball with a headline of “Bombs Away”
and a skeleton on the ball with a headline “Possessed.” In 2006, the
campaign evolved to incorporate Srixon’s emerging tour staff and
featured the image from one of the most popular executions of 2005,
affectionately known as “Marvin.” “Marvin,” a fiery golf ball with a
wide sardonic grin, a full set of shining teeth and attitude to boot,
is never at a loss for words and enjoys adding color commentary to
Srixon print ads and television spots. He can also be seen flying
across the computer screen on the Srixon website touting the new
company tagline “Get Your Sriks-On.”
The Srixon tour staff carrying the commemorative golf bags at The
Players Championship will be Robert Allenby, Tim Clark, Brian Davis,
Jim Furyk, John Rollins and Henrik Stenson. Srixon will also have each
player sign a “Ball Tattoo” golf bag and this commemorative bag will be
given away on www.srixon.com during the month of May.
