ATLANTA, GA, May 2, 2005 -
Srixon Staff Professional Tim Petrovic won the PGA Tour’s Zurich
Classic of New Orleans on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff on
Sunday, May 1, 2005 at TPC Avondale in Louisiana. Petrovic played with
Srixon’s Z-UR prototype golf ball, I-302 irons and W-302 3-wood to
shoot a 13-under par, 275 total (72-69-66-68). With this win, Petrovic
climbed 53 spots to 67th place on the World Golf Rankings and moved to
18th on the 2005 PGA Tour Money List. The win marks Petrovic’s first
career victory on the PGA Tour in his first year playing Srixon balls
and clubs.
“The Z-UR golf ball and I-302 irons
performed beautifully for me all week,” said Petrovic. “I had the
length to win on a course as long and challenging as the TPC of
Louisiana and had great distance control on my iron shots, especially
in the windy conditions. The Z-UR feels great off the putter, which
gave me the confidence I needed to make some big putts to help put the
tournament away.”
In fact, Srixon had several strong
showings in New Orleans, with Srixon Staff Professionals John Rollins
and Brian Davis tied for 17th at the Zurich with a 6-under par, 282
total while Srixon Staff Professional Tim Clark finished at 5-under par
for a 283 total. All three played Srixon’s Z-UR golf balls and Srixon
I-302 irons.
On the Nationwide Tour, Srixon Staff
Professional Kyle Thompson tied for 5th place at the Nationwide Tour’s
BMW Charity Pro-Am at the Cliffs in Greenville, South Carolina on
Sunday. Thompson played with Srixon’s Z-UR prototype golf ball and
I-302 irons to shoot a 9-under par, 205 total (68-67-70).
Srixon
staff players and the new Z-UR golf balls have earned four wins across
the globe and a total of nine Top 10 finishes this year on the PGA
Tour, including six Top 5 finishes.
Srixon’s
revolutionary Z-UR is constructed with an incredibly soft,
shear-resistant, and membrane-thin urethane-elastomer cover measuring
an astounding 0.02-inch thin and features the largest and fastest
Energetic Gradient Growth core Srixon has ever developed. The Z-UR is a
ball with tremendous initial velocity, ideal ball flight and
