ATLANTA, GA, March 26, 2007 -
Srixon Staff Professional Jason Knutzon claimed his second career
victory on the Asian Tour by winning the inaugural Motorola
International at the Ria Bintan Golf Club, Bintan Indonesia. Armed
with the new Srixon Z-URS Golf Ball, the Des Moines, Iowa native fired
a six birdie, no bogey final round 6-under par 66 for a four day total
of 14-under par 274 (69-71-68-66) and a hard fought one stroke
victory. It was Knutzon’s second career Asian Tour victory to go along
with the 2004 Macau Open.
Starting the final day
2 strokes off the lead, Knutzon displayed consistent ballstriking,
steady control, and solid putting including the nervy 3-foot par putt
on the difficult par-3 18th hole to clinch the victory. Knutzon moves
to 15th on the Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit. This was Srixon’s 2nd
win in as many weeks on the Asian Tour. Last week Srixon Staff
Professional, Chapchai Nirat claimed the co-sanctioned European/Asian
tour title at the TCL Classic. Nirat currently stands 2nd on the Order
of Merit.
Srixon Staff Professional Robert Allenby continued his blazing start to
the 2007 season with his 6th Top-10 and 3rd Top-5 finish in 8 events
after finishing in a tie for 3rd place at the WGC – CA Championship on
the famed Blue Monster at the Doral Resort & Spa, Miami, Florida.
With the Srixon Z-UR Golf Ball, W-403 Driver and Fairway Woods, I-506
Irons and Forged Wedges, Allenby fired the low round of the day on
Sunday, a remarkable 5-under par 67 in some of the toughest and most
blustery conditions of the week.
Srixon Staff Professionals have now recorded 14 top-10 finishes on the
2007 PGA Tour including World Number 5 Henrik Stenson’s win at the WGC-
Accenture Match Play Championship. This was also the 10th of 12 events
total on the PGA Tour in 2007 in which Srixon staffers recorded at
least one top-10 finish. Srixon currently has 4 players in the Top 20
on the FedExCup Points list (John Rollins – 5th; Allenby – 8thth,
Stenson – 11th; World Number 2 Jim Furyk – 19th).
