ATLANTA, GA, January 11, 2005 -
Srixon Sports announces today they have signed Nationwide Tour
Professional Kyle Thompson to its growing staff of players. Thompson,
who finished 22nd on the Nationwide Tour Money List in 2004, will play
with Srixon’s I-302 irons, carry a Srixon Tour bag and wear a Srixon
hat and glove, and play a soon-to-be-released Srixon prototype golf
ball.
“Kyle is one of the bright young stars on the Nationwide
Tour with a great future ahead of him,” said Richard Stamper, Srixon’s
President. “Kyle has excelled at every level of golf at which he’s
competed, from his days as a junior golf star to his All-American days
at South Carolina to his current run as one of the Nationwide Tour’s
strongest and most consistent performers. He has had a great start to
his professional career and at the young age of 25, is a star in the
making,” added Stamper.
“I know what it takes to win
tournaments and know that in order to be in contention week after week,
I need to play with the best clubs and balls on the market,” said
Thompson. “Srixon has an unbelievable arsenal of equipment from which
to choose. I am amazed at the technology they have, their expertise in
balls and clubs, and I know that year after year, they will be able to
put the best in golf, right in my bag,” added Thompson.
In
just his second year on the Nationwide Tour, Thompson collected six Top
10s, including two runner-up finishes, one of which coming from a
playoff. Additionally, Thompson shot a 62 for a new course record at
the Scholarship America Showdown.
One of the
Nationwide Tour’s most solid ball strikers, Thompson ranked 5th in the
Tour’s All-Around Statistic, seventh in Par Breakers and eighth in
Total Driving. He sizzled in his rookie season posting Top 10 finishes
in three of his first five events en route to finishing 25th on the
Money List.
Thompson was a three-time All American at the University of South Carolina.
