ATLANTA, GA, January 7, 2005 -
Srixon Sports announces today they have signed PGA Tour player Tim
Clark, a member of the 2003 Presidents Cup Team, international side.
Clark will play with Srixon’s I-302 irons, play a soon-to-be-released
Srixon prototype golf ball, carry a Srixon Tour bag, and wear a Srixon
hat and glove. Clark adds to a growing list of Srixon Staff players on
the PGA Tour that includes, among others, 2006 Ryder Cup Captain Tom
Lehman, Robert Allenby, Alex Cejka and John Huston.
“Tim is one of the bright young stars on the PGA Tour,”
said Richard Stamper, Srixon’s President. “He has had great success at
every level, from his days playing amateur golf as the U. S. Amateur
Public Links Champion, to his play on the PGA Tour which earned him a
spot on The Presidents Cup Team. We believe there are many titles and
many more great things in his future and we are proud to have him as
part of the Srixon Staff,” added Stamper.
“Because
the PGA Tour is so competitive, I looked for equipment that would give
me the best chance to compete at my highest level of play,” said Clark.
“In Srixon, not only have I found the best irons and balls for my game,
but the technology and resources behind a pioneer like SRI means that
year after year, I will have the best equipment in my bag.”
Clark
is one of only three players under the age of 30 who has garnered at
least three Top 15 finishes in three different Major Championships.
And, for the second consecutive season, Clark’s PGA Tour earnings have
topped the $1 million mark. Among his six Top 10s this year was his
best finish, tied for 5th place at the Valero Texas Open. Clark also
tied for 13th place at this year’s U.S. Open with a blistering 3rd
round best of 66.
Clark’s international resume
includes winning the Bell’s South African Open as well as the South
African Tour’s Order of Merit. Clark played college golf in the United
States at North Carolina State University and won the 1997 U.S. Amateur
Public Links Championship while attending school.
