ATLANTA, GA, January 3, 2005 -
Srixon Sports announces today they have signed PGA Tour player and 2002 Canadian Open Champion John Rollins. Rollins, a five year veteran on the PGA Tour, will play with Srixon’s I-302 irons, carry a Srixon Tour bag, wear a Srixon hat and glove, and play with a soon-to-be released Srixon prototype golf ball.
“John is a major young talent, a proven champion and someone who has the consistency to win year in and year out,” said Richard Stamper, Srixon’s President. “John has shown that he can win on the PGA Tour and we expect to see him back in the winner’s circle in 2005,” added Stamper.
“I take pride in my ball striking ability which requires precision equipment—balls and clubs—that performs exactly how I want them to, when I want them to,” said Rollins. “With the Srixon irons and golf ball, I’ve found the perfect combination which lets me play to my strengths. Their history of technology and innovation provides me with the confidence that I’m playing with equipment that nobody else makes,” said Rollins.
In 2004, Rollins collected seven Top 25 finishes, including a tie for 4th place at the Deutsche Bank Championship, and a tie for 8th place at the John Deere Classic where he aced hole No. 7 in the final round with a 7-iron from 169 yards. He showed remarkable consistency in the latter half of the season, making the cut in 14 of his last 15 events.
Rollins played college golf at Virginia Commonwealth University.
